The Nifty Guide to Coupons - Part 2

Wednesdays on  The Nifty Thrifty lady there will be a running series on money saving tips and tricks. For the next several weeks it will be on couponing. I hope you all, read, learn and enjoy saving money!

Last week on The Nifty-Thrifty Lady we talked about knowing coupons, well coupon polices at the stores you shop at really. This first step is important so you know where you can get coupons from! If you are a new couponer you might be thinking something like this "what? Where to get coupons, they come in my newspaper!". You are right Sunday papers are a great place to get coupons but recently there are sites and sources popping up all over the place! Great for  us right! But, who has time to surf the web everyday for coupons? Me, lol. Not really I do have some suggestions for you on where to get them and how to know if the site is right for you.

Coupon Sources that are not on the internet
Sunday newspaper inserts
"All you" Magazine
Bottom of receipts
Store checkout lanes
On food purchases (on know the sticky "save now", or on the inside of products)
School fundraisers (in the Hagerstown area many schools have the BIG Bonus book get on!)
The CVS Coupon Machine ( you just need a store loyalty card)
Inserts in your mailbox (I get them on Wednesdays)

Coupon Sources that are on the internet
PandG (score some Freebies too)
Mambosprouts.com (organic coupons)

No Clip Coupons
Checkout 51
Berry Cart
Retail Store Coupon Codes

Printable coupons are a great way to get high value, rare, and multiple coupons.
A couple of things to know:
  • You will have to download a coupon printer for each different coupon site (these are safe)
  •  When done printing your first copy hit the back button and print an additional copy. You can print two coupons from each computer you own
  •  Ink and paper are expensive so when possible try to purchase on sale at office stores. Also printing in gray scale or black and white helps a ton.
  • All major grocery stores and drug stores accept internet coupons but check the stores policy on Printable B1G1 coupons many do not accept these.
  • If you want to print more then two internet coupons you will need more then one computer OR you can print from a tablet, smartphone, or laptop."like"  on facebook Let me explain, say you use shout, find them on FB and "like" them they is usually some sort of offer or promotion you can take advantage of!

Okay so now which one's should I use?
If you are a beginner start out with a few. I recommend buying two Sunday Papers, and  browsing coupons.com to get an idea of how to print and how the values compare to the inserts

If you are a seasoned couponer I recommend all of the sites and sources! They all have manufactures coupons which can be used at any store and they all are easy to use.

Well there you have it Thrifty Friends, the second lesson in the Thrifty Guide to Coupons! I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think or if you have questions or if you have any coupon sites!

Happy Clipping (or printing)!

  1. I am the worst when it comes to searching around online for good coupons. I always start with the best of intentions then wind up surfing the internet and wasting so much time. I'm easily distracted, lol! Thanks for the tips and thanks for visiting my site! :-)

  2. I know what you mean! I will go on just to get coupons and end up checking , FB, Emails, Blog, vB, everything, then think oh yeah I getting coupons! Thanks for the comment!
