Give Thanks in all circumstances...

for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Thessalonians 5:18

Happy November and the beginning of the busiest time of the year (at least for me). During the hustle and bustle of  cooking, shopping, wrapping, volunteering, decorating, care-taking, ect. I find it calming to take a minute or two each day to give thanks.

Have you Checked Facebook for Yard Sales...

I was browsing around Facebook last week searching for pages in my area to help network myself with other ladies who love to save money. When I was doing so I came upon a page that was like a yard sale!

It is Tuesday and that means anything goes on The Nifty-Thrifty Lady! I wanted to share a go to side dish in the fall and winter months for my family. So your probably thinking this has been done, and your right it has. However, this macaroni can be thrown together in under 10 mins and all of the ingredients are most likely in your fridge or pantry.not to mention the whole dish can be made for under $5.00 if you keep milk, butter and cheese on hand!

Pumpkin Patch Accomplished!

A Ward Family Tradition is to go to  Reynolds Farm every year. For $5.00 a person plus the cost of a pumpkin you can do all kinds of fun fall things. They have hay rides, hay mazes, three huge slides, corn mazes, a duck race, play area, plus tons more. This year our wonder friends The Martins joined us, they have two adorable little girls. I thought I would share a movie of our time there today with all of you! Enjoy!

Can Picky be Cheap?

How to stay on budget with picky eater
I love my son to death and I love my husband to death but their eating habits are...well...terrible. I never thought of this in a frugal way until I was creating my Family Staples List one day.

Hi Friends, It is just me, Jen.
Fall is my favorite time of the year. The mornings are crisp enough for a nice comfy sweater and the afternoons are warm enough to run forever and not get hot and sweaty. The fall air cleanses the earths palette, the trees shed their leaves, and animals migrate to new homes. New beginnings is what fall is about and nothing could be more graceful and beautiful in doing so. Fall is also a visual reminder of God's awesome powers. He creates breath taking sunsets and makes the ground a collage of red and yellow leaves. He graciously gives us food to harvest. Fall is also a time to reflect and be close to family. A time to pick your own pumpkins, ride on some hay, get lost in a field of corn, eat homemade applesauce, and give thanks over a hot turkey. There is not one thing I would change about fall. I am ready to make some great new memories .

Update: A Thrifty Mom's Dream

This is the recycling station that is outside of the Shell / Domino's on Maugans Ave. It is very easy to use but here is a mini tutorial

The Thrifty Guide to Coupons - Part 1 {Coupon Polices}

what is a coupon policyToday I was trying to think what saves me the most money and most of the time I have to admit it is coupons.
Let me first say I am not an EXTREME couponer. I like to say I am a BALANCED couponer.
In the ideal world I could find and use a coupon for everything I buy, but realistically that is not possible for me. So I do buy things that are full price...bummer I know. Mostly fresh produce or meats. I do have some thrifty ways to save on those items too but that is later.

A Thrifty Mom's Dream

recycling greenopilis As a thrifty lady I try to pass it down to my son, the same way my parents and grandparents did for me.

Here we go...

Hello World, or should I say fellow coupon-ers, money savers, moms, or frugal friends! I am Jen Ward or otherwise know as a thrifty lady. I am not "the" thrifty lady just "a" thrifty lady who would like to a) journal her savings, b) share tips, tricks, and my knowledge with others about a balanced, thrifty life c) learn from you! I am a very eclectic saver, I coupon, reuse, meal plan, (try) to save money, shop for bargains, and stay informed about area activities that are cheap or free. My goal is to bring you that knowledge and have some fun while tracking my savings. I hope you enjoy.
