I am happy to be back with another episode of Back to Basics|Saving in the Kitchen today! I am enjoying how many ideas I have for you all. Today I wanted to show you have to make the most of the summer with freezing fresh foods. I am showing you specifically how to freeze green beans but this technique can be used on many of your garden favorites.

  • What you need:
  • Fresh Green Beans
  • Pot and water
  • Large bowl and cold water
  • Dish towel
  • Freezer quart bags

Video Tutorial:

Step 1:
Snap the ends of the beans and brake into 2 inch pieces.

Step 2:
Bring a pot half full to boiling
3 minutes to Freeze Green Beans

Step 3:
Add green beans to boiling water trying to keep the water boiling

Step 4: Boil for 3 minutes

Step 5:
Fill similar size bowl with COLD water half full

Step 6:
Spoon green beans from boiling water to cold water, let cool

Ziploc bags

Step 7:
Place cool green beans on dry dish towel and pat dry

Step 8:
Label quart size freezer bags and place dried balanced green beans inside
